Retort Pouch can be used for any type of food that needs a long shelf life at room temperature. The concept of a retort pouch is pretty much the same as can.
The normal retort process temperature is 121 degrees Celsius for 50 minutes which is called ‘High Retort.’ Retort pouch is used for soup, tuna, salmon, shrimp, beef patty, curry, pet food, and other type of wet food. It can be made as stand-up (shelf-stable), 3-sides sealed and shaped pouch. Recently, the institutional pouch is widely used in seafood industry.
Other benefits include high-temperature sterilization, sealing capability, up to 9 colors gravure printing, lower OTR, WTR and longer shelf life, and optional laminated layers for better barriers against moisture, humidity and puncturing.
